Accommodation

Gleneagles, set in 850 acres at the foot of the Scottish highlands, is a world class resort offering guests an unrivalled choice of sports and leisure facilities. When opened in 1924 it was described as 'a Riviera in the Highlands' and 'the eighth wonder of the world'. Today the Five Red Star resort retains that ambience, and a ratio of more than one staff member to every guest ensures an unprecedented level of service. Four restaurants and bars provide award winning menus and a choice of over one hundred malt whiskies from the two michelin star, Andrew Fairlie to the new Mediterranean themed Deseo restaurant. The estate offers a wealth of outdoor pursuits including horse riding, shooting, fly-fishing, falconry, mountain biking, tennis, squash, off-road driving and the gun-dog school. Indoors at 'The Club' there is state of the art fitness equipment, swimming pools, spa and turkish baths and a sauna as well as health and beauty treatments. The spa at Gleneagles by Espa opened on 1st March 2008 at a cost of £8 million. Situated in the heart of Scotland, Gleneagles is perfect for visiting the Grampian Mountains, the Lake of Menteith and numerous castles, stately homes and picturesque whisky distilleries.

Golf Courses

Gleneagles is the host to three championship courses and the delightful nine hole "Wee Course". The courses were the inspiration of two of the world's most famous golfers; James Braid, five times winner of the Open, designed the King's and Queen's and Jack Nicklaus created The PGA Centenary Course.

King's Course (The Gleneagles Resort)

The 6,066 yard King's Course was opened in 1919 and and has hosted eight Scottish Opens. Lee Trevino, when he first played the King's, remarked, "If heaven is as good as this, I sure hope they have some tee-times left". To view a sample hole of this course with Virtual Caddy simply click here!

PGA Centenary (The Gleneagles Resort)

The PGA Centenary Course plays between 5,065 and 7,081 yards, due to five optional tees at each hole, and from the back tees is one of the longest inland course in Scotland. Nicklaus combined the best of the earlier designs to create a modern classic that offers a challenge to all abilities of golfer, testing even the greatest players! The PGA hosts the Johnnie Walker Classic each year and welcomes the Ryder Cup in 2014.
