Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club
Edinburgh, Scotland
Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club overview
Impressively situated in 1,000 acres of parkland lies the four-star Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club. With spectacular views of Edinburgh Castle and the Forth Bridges, it’s a celebration of Scottish heritage and is often voted one of the best resorts in Scotland.
Golf Courses
The Championship East Course has been host to major events such as the Solheim Cup, the Scottish PGA and the Scottish Seniors Open to name a few. Nicknamed ‘The Beast’ this course is a true challenge for even the very best golfers demanding a combination of raw power and a precise short game to be able to score.
The fairways are wide and mostly forgiving (save for a few cunningly placed bunkers by Mr Braid), so you’re able to open the shoulders and really go for it on most tees. The greens are large and receptive, meaning you should have a large target to aim at if you can keep the ball in play off the tee.
A perfect complement to its bigger brother, the West Course has an excellent mix of challenging holes which will test your accuracy off the tee and your short game around the greens. Ideal for beginners or people who only play occasionally, the Resort West Course can be shortened to just 9 or 13 holes, as the course winds its way past the Hotel giving the option of only playing for 90 mins to two hours if you’re short on time.
Accommodation
With 215 rooms and suites, a range of restaurants and bars, this historic resort also features luxurious leisure facilities and a state-of-the-art fitness centre.
Each bedroom comes equipped with 24 hour room service, coffee making facilities, smart TV, luxurious bedding and of course an en-suite bathroom. The venue is situated in 1,000-acres of beautiful landscaped grounds, making this the ideal retreat for a golfing getaway.
Restaurant & Bars
For an evening meal, there is the option of either The Brasserie, offering a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a range of meals and snacks, or the Pentland Restaurant, which offers a more formal atmosphere, serving up beautifully prepared Scottish dishes. Dalmahoy’s seasonal menus boast a range of dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. Some have even been hand-picked from the on-site herb garden.
Spa & Leisure
The Dalmahoy Hotel also offers a well-equipped gym, indoor pool and a spa to help guests unwind after their rounds on the golf course. The spa itself offers a range of different services including hair & scalp treatments, lip treatments, makeup services, manicures/pedicures and waxing.
Location
It’s hard to believe Dalmahoy lies just 20 minutes from Edinburgh and 10 minutes from Edinburgh Airport. It enjoys excellent transport links by air, road and rail, while offering a luxury retreat at a Scottish resort.
Dalmahoy is also located near some of the very best attractions in Edinburgh with the world-famous Edinburgh Zoo and Murrayfield Stadium being just two you can enjoy visiting during your break.
Nearby
The vibrant city of Edinburgh is great fun and just a short drive away from this stunning Dalmahoy golf hotel. There is plenty of history and architecture to explore, with Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile full of little places to discover and learn more about this city’s heritage. There are seven hills in Edinburgh and Arthur’s Seat is the pick of the bunch, with stunning panoramic views across the entire city.
The Scott Monument is not for the faint-hearted, climb up hundreds of stairs in narrow corridors and the views from the top of this tower are just stunning. Rose Street and George Street are full of fantastic bars and restaurants and range from trendy, upmarket bars to quaint pubs full of character. For a splash of culture why not visit the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art.
