IT Infrastructure Engineer (3rd Line) - Full Time Position

Role Overview

As a 3rd Line IT Infrastructure Engineer, you will play an essential part of the Infrastructure and Services Team, taking responsibility for our growing IT infrastructure both on-prem and in the cloud, whilst also ensuring its reliability and resiliency as it evolves based on both IT and business initiatives. You will be responsible for analysing proposed IT infrastructure solutions, as well as proposing your own ideas, and then working with the team to determine the appropriate hardware, software and/or services that would be best suited for the task or project.

In this role, you will gain exposure to all areas of the business as you provide both IT infrastructure support whilst driving strategic infrastructure projects. You will provide 3rd Line IT support for the 1st and 2nd Line engineers, as well as to the business, to ensure timely solutions are put in place to keep staff operational and productive.

The candidate best suited for this role will have excellent communication skills, be able to demonstrate a methodical approach to problem solving, be a decisive decision maker, and a great solution implementor. Working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, where no one day is the same, a tenacious attitude and an eagerness to learn will be a big advantage. This role requires excellent attention to detail, organisation skills, prioritisation, and teamwork. Being solution-orientated, customer-focused, and adaptable to change is also highly desirable.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • 3+ years’ experience in a 3rd Line IT Infrastructure role
  • Windows Server maintenance, upgrading and troubleshooting (2016, 2019, 2022).
  • Exchange Online / Microsoft 365 administration experience
  • Familiarity with networking concepts and in-built Windows diagnostic tools
  • Good automation skills, ideally Powershell
  • Good understanding of firewall concepts and rules
  • Good planning and organisational skills
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills within an energetic and vibrant company atmosphere
  • Able to convey technical information to end-users
  • Ability to prioritise in a high volume, service-based organisation
  • Able to take ownership of problems and see through to completion
  • Able to maintain the highest level of professionalism and remain customer-focused even when under pressure.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Good understanding of virtualization (VMWare)
  • Experience with the implementation of Server hardware, upgrades and maintenance
  • Familiar with Dell client and Dell/HP server hardware
  • Azure maintenance and administration
  • DFS maintenance and administration
  • Familiar with Backup and Recovery Solutions, ideally Datto Cloud Backup Services
  • Experience managing SSL Certificate (internal and external Certificate Authorities)
  • Microsoft licensing (KMS)
  • Cisco Meraki Wireless AP management
  • SAN/NAS storage experience
  • Remote Management and Monitoring (RMM) solutions, ideally N-Able N-Central.
  • Website (IIS) management and maintenance
  • Microsoft Autopilot and Windows Deployment Services (WDS)
  • Experience of Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune)
  • Certificates (or equivalent): AZ-800, AZ-801

Training Program and Progression

The 3rd Line IT Infrastructure Engineer is a critical role to both the business and the IT team. We will help you to quickly become familiar with our systems through on-site internal training, paired with regular self-paced learning (online Pluralsight resources provided) and, as you settle into the role, you will adopt more responsibilities to help you progress. In addition to working towards your Microsoft qualifications and other applicable certifications (funded by Golfbreaks), you will also be provided with continued guidance from experienced members of the IT team to ensure you have the knowledge needed to further your career.
