The course is well protected from the wind when compared to those on the Cape Peninsula, something of a positive considering the relatively narrow fairways lined with numerous tree types.
The par 5, 8th hole is a great test where an absolutely straight drive is needed in order to not drift into vines or bushes. Surrounded by mountains and vineyards, Stellenbosch Golf Club presents a fair challenge with some memorable holes and the chance to enjoy an excellent 19th hole.
