Palmer North overview

The recently renamed Palmer North Course at The K Club, also known as the Ryder Cup Course, is one of Ireland’s most famous golf courses, having hosted the 2006 matches. A 1991 Arnold Palmer design and a true test of golf, the par-72 plays a massive 7350-yards from the back tees, but fortunately for the regular golfer other tee options are available.

The River Liffey winds its way through the course, making it a prominent feature that is used well on several holes. Whilst challenging, golfers will still be rewarded with a course that plays through picturesque Kildare countryside, which is welcome relief amongst this links-laden land.

Signature Hole

The 7th is a par-5 measuring over 600 yards from the championship tees! The hole features a double dogleg where golfers must carry their ball over sand, rough and water, whilst the green sits on its own little island, wedged between two arms of the River Liffey. If ever a hole was designed for match play, this is it.

Did You Know?

Northern Irishman Darren Clarke shot the course record with a 12 under par round of 60 during the 1999 European Open. A record that is unlikely to be beaten.
