Golf course at Powfoot Golf Club
The stunning landscape wraps itself around the course creating an idyllic backdrop for this 18-hole layout. Redesigned in 1923 by World Golf Hall of Famer and five-time Open Championship winner James Braid. The designer of both the King's and Queen's course at Gleneagles. Braid has cleverly routed this compact layout, and with lots of trouble off the fairway to score well at Powfoot, you will require a full repertoire of shots.
Signature Holes
Powfoots signature hole falls at the sixteenth. Rough to the left and out of bounds to the right fairways, Ryehill requires skill and imagination straight from the tee shot. The par 4 hole plays 427 yards. Therefore, it is widely regarded as the best hole on the course.
Did You Know?
In 1911, the eighteen-hole course was created, however, World War Two left its mark. Imprinted today at the ninth hole is a sizeable depression caused by a German bomb. This remains a feature on the course today as an “unnatural hazard”.
