Golf Course at Stranraer Golf Club
Uncover a concealed treasure nestled within the picturesque Dumfries & Galloway region. The world-renowned James Braid was called out of retirement in 1950 to redesign Stranraer from a 9-hole course to an 18-hole par 70, this would be the last course he would ever design due to his sad passing later that year.
The parkland course measuring 6,308 yards from the back tees consists of many mature trees that create a captivating and challenging landscape for golfers to navigate. The course is carved across the stunning banks of Loch Ryan creating majestic views presenting a façade of beauty masking the course's true difficulty.
Signature Holes
The true essence of Stranraer Golf Club comes alive on the 5th hole, a captivating par-four standing as the course's signature hole. A tight fairway carving along the shoreline of Loch Ryan presents a real challenge. However, what sets this hole apart is not just its tough layout but the panoramic spectacle offered from the elevated tee box of Loch Ryan and the sprawling golf course.

Stranraer Golf Club was commandeered by the War Department during World War II in 1940. This is when James Braid was called out of retirement to re-design the course for its re-opening in 1950.
