Burnside Course
at Carnoustie Golf Links
Dundee & Perth, Scotland
Burnside Course overview
The Burnside Course is a true links experience and offers an interesting alternative to the Championship Course. At 6028-yards it is much shorter when compared to its famous neighbour, however, what it lacks in distance it makes up for in its defences, with carefully positioned pot bunkers, small but firm greens, the Barry Burn, narrow fairways and the ever-present Carnoustie winds that make scoring difficult; particularly when par is only 68.
The par-3s are a highlight where the 5th & 14th would not look out of place on the Championship Course. In terms of facilities, it shares them with the other courses therefore, golfers have Links House to use before and after the round.
Did You Know?
In 1953 the Burnside Course was used as an Open Championship qualifying venue for the tournament which was being held at the Championship Course at Carnoustie. It was here on the Burnside Course that Ben Hogan shot 70 to qualify, subsequently then going on to win The Open in his only appearance.
