Durban Country Club overview
Rated one of the top golf courses in the world, Durban Country Club offers not only exceptional golf but amazing leisure facilities for golfers and professionals alike. A popular host of the South African Open and more recently a host to the Volvo Championship in 2013 and 2014, Durban Country Club enjoys presenting a challenge.
Durban Country Club Course overview
The Championship Course at Durban Country Club overlooks the beautiful Blue Lagoon Estuary and the Indian Ocean. This layout saw Gary Player’s first South African Open success in 1956. Since then it has hosted 16 more South African Opens, more than any club in South Africa.
The 18-hole, par 72 championship links layout and is in remarkable condition all year round. The par-five 468-metre 3rd hole is rated among the best in the world with its narrow fairway lined with dense bush. The 3rd is one of the most popular holes on the course, but a well-placed bunker on the left-hand side can easily change that opinion on the day.
