Kingussie Golf Club
Highlands & Inverness, Scotland
Overview of Kingussie Golf Club
Golf has been played at Kingussie since 1891 when Tom Morris designed the original 9-hole course, before Harry Vardon helped expand it to a full 18 holes in 1908. While there have been some updates over the years, the course still retains much of its original character, offering a classic test of Highland golf in the Spey Valley.
Located on elevated ground just north of Kingussie in Scotland, the course provides stunning views of the Cairngorms and surrounding mountains. The layout at Kingussie offers for easy walking with only a couple of short climbs at the 4th and 8th holes. The fairways are wide, with minimal rough, and the water hazards only coming into effect on a few holes when the River Gynack is in play. Positioning your shots off the tee is crucial to scoring well on this 5,501-yard course.
Signature Holes
The signature hole is the 4th, known as "The Fort," which measures 463 yards. It’s the only par five on the course, requiring two powerful shots to reach near the green, followed by a chip and a single putt for a potential birdie.
Post Round
The clubhouse overlooks the 1st tee and 18th green, offering members and visitors stunning views of the course and countryside from both the outdoor seating and window tables. Inside, you'll find a golf shop and a lounge bar serving a variety of drinks, snacks, and meals during the season.
