Clube de Golf Santo da Serra
Madeira, Portugal
Clube de Golf Santo da Serra
The course at Clube de Golf Santo da Serra was first opened to 1937, yet was later redesigned in the early 1990's by Robert Trent Jones Snr, creating a spectacular 27-hole complex in a beautiful natural landscape based on the east side of Madeira, with views of Porto Santo and the bay of Machico, where Portuguese navigators first landed in 1419.
The courses are a true botanical garden, ornamented with four beautiful lakes and scenic views, as Santo da Serra is designed to be enjoyed rather than fought. Complete with an extensive practice area and clubhouse to unwind after your round.
Split into three distinctive loops of nine, each one offers a varying selection of challenges. The Machico and Desertas courses have played host to the European Tour’s Madeira Islands Open and with the Serras Course offering an easier test on flatter terrain, it is no less stunning. The third and fourth on the Machico are regarded as the signature holes, sitting atop cliffs more than 2,200ft above the Atlantic.
