Colt Course overview
The 18-hole championship Lee Westwood Colt Course was opened in May 2011 and was voted one of the top 100 golf courses in England, less than eight months after it opened. The 6,813-yard layout tips its hat to the great English golf architect Harry Colt (who designed Wentworth, St Georges Hill, Sunningdale and Swinley Forest among others).
While nothing is copied directly, the rectangular tees, bunker forms, and the variety in par-3s are all features conceived from the distilled themes of this most brilliant architect. In 2017, just six years after opening, The Lee Westwood Colt Course became the official venue of the British Masters supported by Sky Sports. Close House welcomed some of the world’s leading players such as Lee Westwood, Rory Mcilroy, Sergio Garcia and Martin Kaymer to name a few. The event welcomed over 68,000 spectators through the gates that week, a new British Masters record.
