Overview
Matfen Hall, located in 300 acres of pristine parkland, is an imposing 19th-century Gothic mansion. It features a 27-hole golf course and a 9-hole par 3 short course, as well as a TopTracer driving range and clubhouse with a Foresight Hawk simulator and teaching studio. As of late August 2024, the clubhouse, The Keepers, will have a brand-new restaurant and bar overlooking the course. Just one of four dining spaces across the estate, the hotel also features a spa, perfect for the post-round relaxation.
Golf Courses
Matfen Hall’s golf courses are some of the finest in the North East, offering a challenge to golfers of all levels amongst the native wildlife and stunning Northumberland scenery.
The original par-72, 6569-yard Douglas/Standing Stone course includes a postage stamp green protected by a Ha-Ha wall, with water featuring on several holes, including the signature par-3, 17th.
The additional par-36, 3357-yard Dewlaw course adds variety as a third loop, perfect for an extended golf break.

Matfen Golf Course
Offering an enjoyable challenge for golfers of all standards, this classic parkland style course is sympathetically laid out for everyone to enjoy. The River Pont is featured on several holes and is a picturesque highlight of the course as well as the dry stone 'ha ha' which bisects the estate presenting a unique obstacle. Matfen’s signature hole is the long par-3 17th with a narrow green situated nervously close to the river.
