Hunting Course overview
Considered by many as the ‘Number One’ course at Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa and Golf Resort, the Hunting is kept in fantastic condition, and at more than 7,000-yards off the championship tees, the big hitters will have a slight advantage around this track. Designed by David Thomas, the fairways roll beautifully through the surrounding moorland of the region, which may distract you from your game at times.
Focus is important though, as the strategically placed bunkers, lakes and streams make shot selection important, not to mention the need for care around the greens which are of USGA standard, making the golf course thoroughly enjoyable but equally challenging.
Signature Holes
Often considered the superior course onsite at the marvellous Slaley Hall, the Hunting Course boasts a range of excellent holes across its 18, which all could be considered signature holes. However, the par four 9th hole is unforgettable, requiring an accurate drive through an avenue of trees onto a fairway where the big-hitters may be punished by the burn which runs across it. The approach shot into the green is tricky with large rhododendron bushes protecting the left side, yet provides a striking view especially when it's summer.
