The San Roque Club, Old Course
Sotogrande, Spain
Golf Club Overview
San Roque Golf Club's Old Course, situated at the foothills of the Sierra Bermeja, stands as one of Europe's premier golfing destinations. Offering a challenging yet captivating experience, the Old Course is renowned for its timeless charm and impeccable design. The course has been host to the Spanish Open and Qualifying school for the European Tour. In addition to this Valderrama, Almenara, La Reserva and Alcaidesa are within close proximity. The courses contrast in layout but both offer a fantastic challenge for golfers of all levels.
Overview
This long golf course was originally designed by Dave Thomas but has since had the bunkers redesigned by the legendary Seve Ballesteros. It played host to the Spanish Open in 2005 and was voted the number 10 golf course in Spain by Golf Digest Magazine. Its main features are tight, sloping fairways that demand straight, accurate driving to achieve a low score. Bunkers have been strategically placed and deceptive water hazards also threaten, but those who gamble may just get the rewards they were looking for.
