Bethpage Black Golf Course

Located in Long Island and just a stone’s throw away from New York City, Bethpage State Park is home to one of the most prestigious public courses in the United States – Bethpage Black Golf Course. Designed by renowned architect A.W. Tillinghast in 1936, the Black Course is known for its incredibly difficult layout.

The course has previously hosted major events, including the 2002 and 2009 U.S. Opens and the 2019 PGA Championship. Now preparing for the 2025 Ryder Cup, Bethpage Black is set to deliver an electric atmosphere, with passionate New York crowds adding to the drama of the U.S. vs. Europe showdown.

The course

The course demands precision and strategic shot-making from golfers of all skill levels. One of its iconic features is the warning sign at the first tee that famously declares, "The Black Course is an extremely difficult course which we recommend only for highly skilled golfers”. The warning is certainly fitting, given the course measures a whopping 7,468 yards with elevation changes, deep bunkers, narrow fairways, and thick rough being a recurring theme throughout.
