We are often asked by our customers, what are the best golf courses in Myrtle Beach? Well, Myrtle Beach has more golf courses per square mile than anywhere in the USA and arguably the best variety.

Along this 60-mile stretch of South Carolina coastline called the ‘Grand Strand,’ you’ll be amazed at how every course has its own distinct feel. Not only does the landscape dramatically change from north to south, but different styles, of course, are incorporated along the stretch. You will play heathland, desert and even links courses, many with spectacular coastal views. Here are a few courses we highly recommend.

Golf at Grande Dunes is perfectly refined, an inclusive experience of both 5* golf and wonderful service. Tee off onto the expansive Bermuda-grass fairways, with approach shots onto the large champion style greens, but don’t be fooled by their size, you must hit a small target to avoid being carried away by the contours and undulations. The Resort Course is extremely enjoyable and plays right alongside the estuary that will taunt you with danger.

Recognised among some of the USA’s best new courses, King's North at Myrtle Beach National is a stunning layout with lush green fairways that contrast with the deep blue lagoons found on most holes. It was re-designed by Arnold Palmer in 1996 and definitely has his special touch. The signature hole, the 6th, features a tempting island fairway to the left of the tee box. If you manage the long tee shot over the water to the back part of the fairway you will be on the green in two and have a look at eagle. Risky but it offers so much reward.

Experience what it’s like to play on a real PGA Tour layout. This course successfully held a Senior PGA Tour Championship in the year 2000 and is the only course on the Grand Strand area to be awarded 5 stars by Golf Digest Magazine. Along with these amazing achievements, TPC Myrtle Beach is also home to the Dustin Johnson Golf School, recently started by the big-hitting South Carolina native. Needless to say, this high calibre course is an incredible experience and should be included in your Myrtle Beach trip.

Ranked consistently among the best courses in South Carolina on all respectable lists, this unanimous decision is because the Caledonia Course is simply spectacular on every level. From the moment you enter the property and drive down the exclusive half-mile stretch hidden by tall oak trees either side, you can feel that this is somewhere special. The course exceeds all expectations with greens framed by meandering streams and woodland pines. The natural beauty of the area has been preserved and you will always feel alone on the course, as you rarely see another hole.

Arguably it’s the course with the most elevation changes in Myrtle Beach and claims to have some of the best greens around with its Champion UltraDwarf grass, the Fazio course features water hazards on 15 of the 18 holes. A championship standard course that’s great for players of all abilities as there are five sets of tees to choose from.

One of the Grand Strand’s first courses to be built, Pine Hills stands as the matriarch of Myrtlewood. As you would expect from one of the leading courses, this difficult design demands respect from all golfers who attempt the 18. It’s not the longest on the stretch but a lot tighter than most. If you play here you’ll need to think strategically on every hole, as it really does keep you on your toes.

This Arnold Palmer signature course at Myrtle Beach National attracts thousands of locals and visitors every year. Its cunning design forces the golfer's creative side, you can’t play a round here without thinking slightly differently about your strategy. Reaching greens in regulation won’t be about brute strength, as the bunkers surrounding the greens sit ready to swallow up any miss-hits. South Creek is not a particularly long course, but a real thrill for golfers of all levels.

Located just over the Carolina border this tough, big-hitting course is ready for all contenders willing to step up to the test. Built around the marshlands native to the area, the layout is as beautiful to look at as it is to play. The landing areas are generous, so If you are long enough to hit over the water you could score well here.

This classic Rees Jones design rewards good shots but severely punishes bad decisions. Another one of the Myrtle Beach old-timers, this course has stood the test of time and continues to be a local favourite. It is certainly a course that you’ll want to play again and again with pure white sand and perfectly cut Bermuda fairways. Remember that all slopes lead to water so accuracy is paramount.
