We love resort trips as they offer everything you need for an incredible golf holiday right there on-site. What’s more, the Costa del Sol boasts a phenomenal golfing climate throughout the year.
So, whether you want a summer break with plenty of tanning time, or to start your season with a few rounds in the sunshine, this southern Spanish region is the ideal destination. Still need some inspiration? Check out some of the best golf resorts in the Costa del Sol below!
With three courses on-site, a plethora of bars and restaurants, and more than 100 rooms, La Cala is the perfect choice for a resort trip. There’s so much to see and do, that many of our customers are choosing to increase their stays at La Cala to truly maximise the experience.
A 4-night break makes playing the America, Asia and Europa golf courses easy, with a day spare to loop around your favourite again. However, with tennis courts, football pitches, squash courts, a fully equipped fitness centre, and a choice of swimming pools, there’s plenty of other ways to fill your time!
The five-star Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa is one of the finest golfing properties in Spain, with 27-holes of excellent golf to be enjoyed. The first-class accommodation boasts 170 rooms, all with their own private terrace. Plus, with a choice of two bars and three restaurants on-site, there’s little reason to leave the property – although with Puerto Banus just 10 minutes away, the option is there for those keen to venture out for an evening!
On the course, the three loops of nine are equally challenging, having been designed by former Ryder Cup star, Manuel Piñero, with a focus on blending seamlessly into the landscape. All in all, The Westin La Quinta Golf Resort & Spa should be near the top of your list when looking at holidays to the Costa del Sol.
Another 27-hole layout with a focus on working within the stunning environment provided by the Guadalhorce valley is the fabulous Lauro Golf Resort.
Our guests love the flexibility offered by the mix of accommodation on-site, from two-bedroom apartments to four-bedroom townhouses. This makes Lauro ideal for groups of any size, and the fully equipped kitchens allow for golfers that may want to whip up a meal or two. That said, the two on-site restaurants at Lauro Golf Resort boast varied menus that will satisfy even the fussiest members of the group.
The greens at Lauro are renowned for their smoothness, with the fairways winding through pine, cork, olive and citrus trees. Those staying for longer are also able to visit some of our other courses nearby, including the three courses at the aforementioned La Cala Resort.
Experience the epitome of luxury at Anantara Villa Padierna. This five star resort is accompanied by three world-class golf courses – Flamingos Golf Course, Alferini Golf Course and Tramores Golf Course. There are 132 beautifully spacious and well-designed guestrooms, suites and villas, as well as over 1,200 pieces of art spread throughout the resort.
The spa facilities are truly exceptional, featuring six steam rooms, two saunas, and a heated indoor pool, providing a remarkable wellness experience. All room types are spacious and styled with tasteful furnishings offering views over the gardens, Andalusian mountains, or golf courses.
Another superb five-star option on the sunshine coast is the SO/ Sotogrande. The hotel has a mix of rooms and suites, with a focus on creating an atmosphere that blends traditional Spanish design with modern flair.
There’s a wide choice of bars and restaurants on-site, including a newly opened fine dining experience to really make your stay unforgettable. Like several of the other resorts above, SO/ Sotogrande benefits from 27-holes on the property at the Almenara Golf Club, allowing guests to play a mix of layouts throughout their stay to keep things interesting.
The three loops are aptly named, with Los Pinos (Pines) winding through narrow trees, and Los Lagos (Lakes) working its way around numerous water hazards. The final course, Los Alcornoques (Corn Oaks), features some of the more picturesque holes at Almenara and is one to take a few holiday snaps on the way around!
Groups looking for a self-catering golf holiday on the Costa del Sol simply must check out the Vista Real Apartments at Alcaidesa. Located in Estepona, just a short trip from the border with Gibraltar, the resort benefits from on-site access to two fantastic courses.
The Links Course is much-lauded and thought of as one of very few true links facilities in Southern Europe, whilst the Heathland Course offers an equally enjoyable test. There’s also plenty of practice facilities too, making this the perfect place to work on your game whilst enjoying some time in the sunshine. Plus, those wanting a more peaceful trip will be pleased to know the resort also has an adults-only swimming pool!
Just a 5-minute drive from Estepona city centre Ona Valle Romano Golf & Resort is a fantastic base for a golf break in the Costa del Sol. There is one golf course on-site, Valle Romano, and plenty more in the area including Dona Julia and Estepona Golf, both of which are within a 15-minute drive of the resort.
