Murcia is one of the most popular golfing destinations in Europe, known as the home of resort golf on the continent. You’ll find some of the biggest names here, including La Manga Club, Caleia Mar Menor and Hacienda del Alamo Golf & Spa Hotel.

The region is also consistently one of Spain’s warmest, with over 300 days of sunshine each year, and temperatures through October and November still allowing for a day spent in shorts and t-shirts!

As well as the fabulous weather, the courses here offer some incredible value for money at a huge variety of layouts throughout the region. Those travelling in a larger group will love Murcia with its multi-course resorts allowing for seamless group trips, without the need to play the same course over and over again! After your golf, you’ll find loads to do – particularly in the evening – with several nightlife hubs in the region ideal for forgetting about that closing bogey.

As a final bonus, affordable flights to the region come directly into Murcia and Alicante from across the UK, meaning there’s always time to squeeze in an extra round on the day of arrival or departure.

Value for money

Murcia offers unrivalled value for money in Europe, with packages at venues such as the Residences Caleia Mar Menor starting from just £159pp. These high-quality apartments are ideal for a weekend break, and provide excellent access to the championship golf courses of Mar Menor, Saurines and Hacienda del Alamo.

Climate

As mentioned in our introduction, Murcia is Spain’s warmest region throughout the year. Whilst the temperature can get up to the mid-30’s throughout the summer, you’ll often find the mercury hitting 20°c in both November and March – allowing for a real extension to your season! If you are going through the warmer months, make sure to head down to the beach on your non-golfing days to truly make the most of this Spanish gem.

Top class resorts

Widely regarded as Europe’s leading sports resort, La Manga Club has absolutely everything you’ll ever need from a golf break. With three highly ranked courses on-site, and over 20 bars and restaurants, easy to see why our customers continue to return year after year.

In Murcia, you’ll also find the Caleia Mar Menor. This resort has a mix of both 5* hotel accommodation and 4* apartments, as well as access to three courses, allowing for variety throughout the break. If neither of these take your fancy, then how about staying at Roda? The resort again offers the choice of both apartments or a hotel, as well as some incredible packages with both buggies and transfers included.

Murcia City nightlife

Feeling lucky after your round? Staying at the TRYP Rincon de Pete in central Murcia neighbours a casino, as well as several great bars and restaurants, making it a Golfbreaks favourite. The city itself is home to every type of bar you could hope for. From upmarket cocktails at the Jekyll & Hyde Lab to the city’s local Jazz clubs (check out Jazzazza!), whatever your group is after, you’ll find it here. For those with a later tee time the following day, the city is also home to several nightclubs…

Easy flights

With two airports in relative proximity, you won’t be short on ways of getting to Murcia. Alicante is around an hour away, with local taxis and shuttles regularly taking groups down to Murcia. There’s also a train which runs from Alicante airport down into Murcia every three hours, costing around £10 per person!

Murcia airport is located slightly closer, but generally flies from slightly fewer UK airports. Be sure to check out your options when flying from the UK as there can be some huge savings to be had by getting the right flights to match your overseas golf trip.

Unique desert golf experiences

GNK Golf Courses (El Valle, La Torre, Hacienda Riquelme) and also UGOLF Courses (Saurines, Mar Menor, Hacenda del Alamo) all offer a unique desert golf experience, traditional to the Murcia region.
