Mauritius offers more than just stunning beaches—it's a golfer's paradise with world-class courses set in breathtaking tropical landscapes. Over 8 days and 7 nights, we explored the island’s top resorts and golf courses, from the coastal fairways of Ile Aux Cerfs to the windswept links of La Reserve.
Each day brought a new adventure, with luxury accommodations, gourmet dining, and unforgettable ocean views. Whether playing or relaxing, Mauritius delivered the perfect balance of challenge and indulgence.
Here's a glimpse into our unforgettable golf itinerary across this beautiful island:
After a 12-hour flight, we touched down early Wednesday morning, eager to kickstart our Mauritius golf trip. Straight from the airport, we headed to the Ambre Resort, a beautiful tropical paradise with a stunning pool area that seamlessly blends into the ocean.
We were greeted with a refreshing lime and coconut drink upon arrival, the perfect way to shake off the travel fatigue. Lunch was at the resort’s Dolce Vita Italian restaurant—delicious pasta and pizza to set the tone for what would be a week of fine dining.
Later in the afternoon, we checked into the Long Beach Hotel, a modern and luxurious property to the north of Belle Mare. The service was impeccable, with staff handling our bags and giving us a buggy tour of the expansive resort. The Junior Suite rooms were incredibly spacious, with private balconies overlooking the beautifully landscaped hotel grounds. Dinner was at Sapori, another Italian restaurant, where we indulged in fresh seafood and enjoyed some delightful cocktails.
Today was all about golf, and what a spectacular setting we had for it. After breakfast, we made our way for a morning tee time at Ile Aux Cerfs – regarded as Mauritius’ best golf course. A short 5-minute jetty ride brought us to this private island, which was nothing short of picturesque. From the jetty, we hopped on a buggy that took us through a tropical path straight to the clubhouse.
The course itself was a true test of skill, with tight fairways, blind tee shots, and water features galore. The coastal holes, in particular, offered breathtaking views of the ocean. It was a strategic round of golf, requiring careful club selection to avoid trouble. For those not playing, there was a private beach nearby with a restaurant and bar, offering a little slice of heaven post-round.
After our game, we took the jetty back and returned to Long Beach for dinner at Chopsticks, an Asian restaurant that had a buzzing atmosphere and fantastic food.
We checked out of Long Beach and headed to Anahita Golf & Spa Resort, which is truly a golfer’s paradise and a former European Tour host! As we drove into the resort, we passed impressive practice facilities and stunning villas. Our accommodation for the next two nights was a 2-story, 3-bedroom villa, complete with a private pool, kitchen, and plenty of communal space. Pure!
Dinner was hosted at the clubhouse restaurant, where we enjoyed Italian dishes with a Mauritian twist. The food was excellent, and the ambiance perfect for winding down after the day’s travel.
Waking up to a lovely breakfast overlooking the ocean, we were ready for another round of golf. This time, it was the Anahita Golf Course, a championship layout that snaked around the resort. The long, sweeping fairways, immaculate greens, and several holes that played right along the ocean made this one of the most scenic rounds of the trip. The wind added an extra challenge, but the views more than made up for it.
The 18th hole finished in front of the clubhouse, where we enjoyed a well-earned beer overlooking the course. The day ended with a massive Asian buffet dinner, featuring everything from sushi to cook-to-order meats. This is what all-inclusive hotels are all about!
Anahita Golf Course
After checking out of Anahita, we headed to Belle Mare Plage, another iconic resort perhaps best known for hosting the MCB Tour Championship on the Legends Tour. The entrance was grand, and the pool area was tranquil, offering a relaxed check-in experience at the bar. The staff, once again, provided top-tier service with smiles all around. One of the highlights of the tour was the resort's Blue Penny Cellar, which houses the largest wine collection in the Indian Ocean.
After settling in, we teed off at the Legends Course, the first of two on-site courses. It’s a tight course with water everywhere, demanding precision. The standout hole was the 17th, a par 3 right across the water with a huge green guarded by bunkers.
We wrapped up the day with a huge buffet dinner at La Citronelle, offering everything from lamb shanks to Italian pasta. Then it was off to our sea-facing Junior Suite for a peaceful night.
The morning began with a tour of Constance Prince Maurice, a small, boutique hotel located just down the coast from Belle Mare Plage. This is the only hotel in Mauritius that has floating hotel rooms (on stilts), similar vibes to the Maldives.
Afterwards, it was time to tackle the second Belle Mare Plage course, The Links. More open than Legends, The Links featured raised tee shots and undulating fairways, making it a fun, scenic round.
In the evening, we attended a cocktail reception at the Deer Hunter clubhouse, followed by dinner with Mautourco—a French/Mauritian fusion with a modern twist. It topped off another incredible day in Mauritius!
Day 7, we headed to the southern part of the island, where we were able to enjoy stunning coastal views before arriving at the stunning Heritage Le Telfair – one of the top golf resorts in Mauritius. The hotel had a colonial charm with its grand white buildings and impeccable service. After settling in, we were given a tour of the neighbouring Heritage Awali, which had a more African-inspired design with thatched roofs and dark wood.
Lunch at the Heritage Golf Course clubhouse was followed by a round on what is arguably the best-looking course on the island – Le Chateau Course. Wide, sweeping fairways framed by majestic mountain views and plenty of water made every hole a joy to play.
Afterward the round, we returned to Le Telfair where we checked into our spacious Ocean View Rooms, which were an absolute delight. We then proceeded to enjoy a French fine-dining experience at Le Chateau, a 19th-century family mansion now converted into a museum and restaurant. We sat on the veranda and the food was incredible, a classic taster menu with wine pairing!
We finished one of the best days of the trip back at The Cavendish bar, which is a classy ‘English themed’ piano bar with live music and a great cocktail menu.
Our final day of the trip started with breakfast at Annabelle’s, before we headed out for our last round of golf at La Reserve Golf Links. Here lies latest addition to the Mauritius golf offering and is defined as the ‘first contemporary links course’ in the Indian Ocean. Despite only opening in December 2023, La Reserve has already hosted the DP World Tour’s AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open – a testament to just how good this layout is.
This links-style course was unlike anything else we had played, with rugged, windswept fairways and punishing rough. Here lies the latest, with incredible ocean views on every hole, and the tough conditions made for an exhilarating round. Honestly, we could have been in Scotland if not for the Indian Ocean sun.
After lunch at the clubhouse, it was time to head back to the airport. Mautourco took care of everything, from checking us in to handling the baggage, making our departure as smooth as the rest of the trip.
A fitting end to an unforgettable golf adventure in Mauritius!
