Lisbon continues to attract golfers from around the world to experience its exceptional catalogue of golf courses and resorts. As a proud home to many of ‘Europe’s Top 100 Golf Courses’ Lisbon stands as a legendary golfing destination less than a 3-hour flight away.

In the video above I am joined by Nathan as we explore the Praia D’el Rey golf resort, just an hour drive from Lisbon city centre. Here, you can play Praia D’El Rey Golf Course, West Cliffs Golf Course and the Royal Obidos - some of my absolute favourite golf courses.

We then travelled an hour south to play Belas Clube Campo, which is about 25 minutes outside of Lisbon. It was an unforgettable experience navigating a course that climbs steep hills and carves through deep valleys. Afterwards, we ventured further south to play the Oitavos Dunes, a carefully crafted course winding through pine woods and reforested dunes.

Hopefully, you saw from the video it’s not just about the golf (often right on the Atlantic Ocean), it’s the full experience that makes Lisbon so good. Outstanding hospitality, great food, culture and year-round summer vibes - it really is incomparable to any other golfing destination.

Check out part 2 below where we explore Pedro Lisboa, Quinta do Peru and Penha Longa resort.

Part 2: From North to South

In part 2, Nathan and I traveled from the North of Lisbon down to Cascais and then down to the South of Lisbon. For our first night, we stayed at the remarkable Dom Pedro Lisboa situated right in the heart of Lisbon.

After an early wake-up, we made the journey to Troia Golf Club, a breathtaking course set in a fantastic links environment. It proved to be a challenging yet unforgettable round with the 16th hole, a par 4, standing out as one of the most memorable holes with its stunning backdrop.

Our last round of golf took place at Quinta do Peru, just 30 minutes south of Lisbon. It's a beautifully designed course framed by the Arrábida Natural Park. We wrapped up our trip by spending the final evening at the incredible 5-star Penha Longa Resort, where we experienced a truly luxurious stay. Nath even claimed to have tried the best curry in his life!

Lisbon is truly one of Europe's best golf destinations with world-class golf resorts, stunning landscapes and historic culture to take in on and off the course.

Fordy’s top tips:

Favourite Lisbon golf courses: West Cliffs, Oitavos Dunes, Praia D'El Rey & Penha Longa.

Top places to explore off the course: I’d recommend discovering the nearby historic towns of Sintra and Cascais. Standing on top of the Sintra mountains 1,800 feet above sea level, you’ll see the colourful Pena palace with its stunning backdrop overlooking all of Lisbon. Downtown Lisbon is a great place for outdoor dining, with bars and restaurants open until late.

Feeling inspired?
If you're after coastal golf courses, luxury resorts, delicious food and a great culture, Lisbon is the place to be.
