Trump International Scotland
Aberdeen, Scotland
Trump International Golf Links overview
Located just 10 miles north of Aberdeen on Scotland’s east coast, the relatively new Trump International Golf Links sits on the most perfect links terrain. Opened in 2012 with the goal of one day hosting a major golf championship, Trump had to overcome many environmental objections and years of legal battles for this project to come to fruition.
As you would expect with a Trump property, the experience is 5-star with no luxurious stone left unturned. From practice facilities to the clubhouse and also the impressive Macleod House and Lodge onsite, there are few other places like this in Scotland.
Championship Course overview
Claiming itself to be "the world's greatest golf course", Trump International Golf Links Scotland was designed by Dr. Martin Hawtree and follows the classic pattern of two out-and-back loops of nine holes. Laid on perfect links terrain, the course threads its way through the dunes and peaks to give you stunning panoramic views of the coastline which are simply breath-taking. Thankfully each hole offers six tee boxes, so the course can cater to all levels of golfer.
However, despite the serene surroundings, do not visit here expecting a walk in the park – this is a brutal and challenging 7400-yard par-72 golf course suited to lower handicaps. Long rough, strong crosswinds, strategically placed bunkers, and fast greens all combine to ensure there is no easy shot and we thoroughly recommend you choose your tee boxes carefully, putting vanity aside.
Signature Holes
The 445-yard par-4 14th hole is inspiring. From an elevated tee the fairway ribbons through a valley of massive dunes with the North Sea beach creating the right boundary beyond the tall grass. The green is slightly raised with sloping edges and protected by a lone bunker on the right side. A stunning hole.
