Overview
Papago Golf Club is one of Phoenix, Arizona's premier public golf courses, known for its scenic desert landscape and challenging layout. Opened in 1963, it was designed by renowned golf course architect William Francis Bell.
In addition to the course itself, the club offers a state-of-the-art driving range, practice facilities (including a short game area and a putting green), and a clubhouse with a pro shop and dining options at Lou’s Bar and Grill.
Course Overview
The course features an 18-hole par 72 championship layout that stretches over 7,300 yards from the back tees, offering a challenging yet enjoyable experience for golfers of all skill levels. With wide fairways, a subtle but tricky layout, and well-maintained greens, Papago is known for its playability while also posing a challenge with its length and varied terrain. Water hazards appear on a few holes as well.
The course has undergone several renovations, with the most recent in 2018, which modernized the clubhouse, added Lou's Bar and Grill and expanded public & private practice facilities. One of the most striking features of Papago Golf Club is the stunning views of the surrounding Papago Buttes, Camelback Mountain, and the Phoenix skyline, adding a picturesque backdrop to the golfing experience.
