The Links at Stono Ferry Course overview
The front nine at Stono Ferry is relatively open with limited bunkering and water hazards on the inland portion, while the back nine proves a much tougher test. Starting at the clubhouse, the second half of the course runs out towards the river then wraps around to the finish. At only 6720 yards from the back tees, accuracy and good strategy rather than long driving are key to good scoring at The Links at Stono Ferry.
The scenery on the course really comes to life on the 12th and 13th holes as you look across the Stono River. In summary, The Links at Stono Ferry offers an enjoyable round paired with stunning views and is well worth a visit when golfing in South Carolina.
Signature Holes
The signature par-3 13th hole is played from the jetty of a former river crossing and requires a 150-yard shot across the creek and onto a green protected by trees both left and right.
Did You Know?
The Battle of Stono Ferry – June 20, 1779: A Revolutionary War battle was fought on the grounds of the now golf course. The battlefield was encompassed by the location of the 12th, 13th, and 14th holes on the course. President Andrew Jackson’s eldest brother was killed in the fighting. A canon still remains at the location signifying where the war bunker location used to be.
Charleston and Savannah Railroad, 1850’s to 1960s: The two Lowcountry cities were previously connected via a railroad. Currently, the site is now occupied by the cart path of the 13th hole.
