The Palmer South Course

Dublin, Ireland
The Palmer South overview
The Palmer South Course at The K Club opened for play in 2003 and is often overshadowed by its more famous sister course, however, they are both very different and equally good Palmer creations. A par-72, it measures a punchy 7300-yards from the tournament tees and was for a long time the longest course on the European Tour, where it hosted the Smurfit European Open on several occasions.
It perhaps may not appeal to those that prefer traditional layouts but for golfers who wish to experience something unique and exciting then it is a great place to visit. The design and layout make great use of dune type mounding throughout the routing, with interesting elevation changes. Credit must be given to Palmer for transforming 200-acres of featureless farmland into a quality golf course.

In 2004 Retief Goosen took the Smurfit European Open title (European Tour) on the Palmer South Course just two weeks after winning his second US Open at Shinnecock Hills.
