Greywalls Hotel
Edinburgh & East Lothian, Scotland
Greywalls Hotel overview
Greywalls Hotel boasts an enviable location, bordering the prestigious Muirfield Championship Course just 40 minutes’ drive from Edinburgh airport. It offers spectacular views across East Lothian and the rugged coastal landscape. This luxury Edwardian manor house dates back to 1901 and has been lovingly restored over the years to fulfill the needs of the modern-day traveler while retaining its traditional character and charm.
Golf Courses
We recommend staying at Greywalls if you want to get a tee time at Muirfield. They require a minimum two-night stay and tee times are restricted to Mondays and Fridays for Greywalls guests.
We have a great relationship with the hotel and have found through experience that this is the most successful way to get a Muirfield tee time.
There are of course other incredible golfing options along this coastline such as the West Links at North Berwick and also Gullane, as well as hidden gems like Luffness New, the Glen Club and Dunbar.
Accommodation
Stay in one of Greywalls' 23 luxury bedrooms which have all been individually styled with antique furniture and pristine fabrics to echo the manor house’s Edwardian roots. Many rooms boast fantastic views across the golf course, the hotel gardens or the beautiful East Lothian landscape which adds to the whole Greywalls experience.
Restaurant & Bars
For an unforgettable dining experience during your Scottish golf vacation look no further than Chez Roux Restaurant. The creation of Albert Rouz OBE, Chez Roux offers a spectacular menu of mouth-watering French cuisine using locally sourced produce wherever possible.
Spa & Leisure
Greywalls offer a personal massage service through a lady called Margaret Winn. She is a renowned remedial sports massage therapist as well as a holistic therapist and has been providing massage to Greywalls guests for many years. We recommend booking well ahead of time as appointments do fill up fast.
Location
On Scotland’s Golf Coast in East Lothian and just 40 minutes from the city of Edinburgh, which is the ideal point of entry for international travellers. Greywalls overlooks Muirfield Golf Course and is less than 10-15 minutes from both North Berwick and Gullane.
Did You Know
Greywalls was built as a holiday home for its original owner, the Hon. Alfred Lyttleton who was a very enthusiastic golfer and insisted that the house be built ‘within a mashie niblick shot of the 18th green at Muirfield’.
