Golf Courses
There are two championship courses to enjoy at JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort – the Soffer and the Miller. These 36-holes are unlike any other in Florida. They bend and stretch past tropical landscaping. In 1970, legendary course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr., created 36 masterful holes of golf. In 2007, World Golf Hall of Famer Raymond Floyd added his own style with a spectacular forty-five million dollar renovation – creating rolling berms, fairways and greens. Each hole is framed by indigenous tropical landscaping, creating a privacy barrier so that each foursome feels as though they are the only players on the course. Accommodation
The JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort boasts four luxurious towers housing a total of 685 guest rooms and suites. These accommodations range from 500 to 2,400 square feet in size, offering ample space for guests to enjoy. Location
The JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort & Spa is situated 17 miles north of downtown Miami in the Aventura area. Just 20 minutes directly south on the A1A Collins Boulevard lies the vibrant nightlife of South Beach. Additionally, the resort is approximately 20-25 minutes from Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) and 30-35 minutes from Miami International Airport (MIA).
On Site Activities
You can do as little or as much as you like at the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort. From the golf courses to the numerous pools, rides and slides (at Tidal Cove) to the 3,600 square-foot fitness centre, there’s so much to keep you active. Not to mention the high-end shopping at Aventura Mall which is just across the street.
In the local area there is more to see and do. The hotel sits at the heart of Aventura in a tropical oasis and is surrounded by a three-mile nature walk. Plus, local attractions such as South Beach, Miami Beach, Miami Seaquarium and Everglades National Park are all just a short drive from the hotel.
Did You Know
The 50-year old property which has been transformed over the years and now rests as the JW Marriott Miami Turnberry Resort was the central part of famed real estate developer Don Soffer’s vision of present-day Aventura. As the story goes, Mr Soffer drew up the plan on a cocktail napkin all those years ago, and the resort is still owned and managed by the Soffer family today.

Miller Course
The Miller Course at JW Marriott Turnberry Isle is the more player-friendly of the two courses on property at just 6,400 from the back tees. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the early 1970s, the course was also part of the re-modelling project that was led by Raymond Floyd in 2007. Although relatively short, there is much water to consider with two-thirds of the course playing alongside lakes. Straight drives and accurate approach play are a premium over distance when taking on the Miller.
Soffer Course
The Soffer Course at JW Marriott Turnberry Isle is the more challenging of the two on property. Initially designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. in the early 1970s, the course was re-worked by Raymond Floyd in 2007 adding contours and mounding that resulted in elevation changes and a more varied playing experience. At 7,000 yards from the tips, the Soffer is a tough test and has hosted several LPGA tournaments in its time, although forward teeing options make it enjoyable for all to experience.
