Heathland Course overiew
Designed by Tom Doak in 1990, the Heathland Course is a unique layout that plays like a links course in the British Isles. A par-71 playing 6800 yards from the tips with four tee boxes to choose from, this property features wide, rolling fairways and open landscape that allow for scenic views of the surrounding area.
Most holes are without high vegetation, but golfers will need to contend with deep pot bunkers and an unobstructed breeze. Doak did a great job implementing holes reminiscent of St Andrews and Lahinch and the course does take on an “Old Country” feel. A unique design for a South Carolina course, the Heathland is a very enjoyable round to players of all skill levels.
Signature Holes
The Heathland’s signature hole is the par-4 16th. Playing 447 yards from the tips, this is the most challenging hole on the back nine. A large fairway split by a creek offers players two different routes to the green. The undulating putting surface is protected by a couple of bunkers adding to the difficulty.
