Marvel at the beauty of North West Ireland
For adventurous golfers who prefer the road less travelled, the North West of Ireland is the place to go. This rugged, beautiful, and remote land is a world away from the Hollywood A-list courses of the South West, but for those who appreciate links golf in its purest form and at a fraction of the price, it’s as good as it gets.
Not that you can keep links of this quality a secret, with the likes of Carne, Enniscrone, Ballyliffin, Rosses Point (County Sligo) and the spectacular Rosapenna all flying high in course rankings both in the UK and US. A golf package in North West Ireland offers a slice of the real Ireland, with fantastic hospitality and a genuine sense of getting away from it all. If you want great golf but without the crowds, it’s perfect.

What makes a golf package in North West Ireland so special?
North West Ireland is the Emerald Isle's hidden gem when it comes to golf. Often mistakingly overlooked and overshadowed by the better-known courses in the South West, the stretch of coast from Galway to Ballyliffin offers some of the most incredible links in Ireland. Carne, Enniscrone, Rosses Point (County Sligo), and Ballyliffin are every bit as good as the likes of Ballybunion, Waterville, and Tralee, but they are less crowded and better value.
They call this region the 'Wild Atlantic Way' and there is good reason for that, with the spectacularly scenic Atlantic coastline providing the perfect landscape for naturally rugged links golf courses. For the adventurous golfer who likes to get off the beaten track we highly recommend a trip to the North West coast of Ireland.

Brace yourself for the Wild Atlantic Way
Much loved for its spectacular scenery, rich history and legendary Irish hospitality, the North West of Ireland is an unmatched destination for a golf vacation. The rugged beauty of the Atlantic coast provides a fantastic setting for stunning links courses, and the seaside towns of Galway, Westport, Sligo and Donegal are the perfect stop-off points along the way.
International access is best through Shannon, which is a 1-hour drive from Galway, or you can connect into the regional airport of Knock which puts you that much further up the coast. Getting to the North West of Ireland may require a little more effort, but that's why it is less crowded, less expensive and more authentic...and definitely worth it!
This really is Ireland's best kept secret, with incredibly rugged and untamed landscape making for the perfect links golf terrain. Remote and difficult to get to but truly worth it.

Where to stay in the beautiful North West
A golf tour to the North West of Ireland is definitely a multi-stop trip, taking in wonderful seaside towns or inland retreats along the journey. We recommend hitting the courses in clusters, with Carne, Enniscrone, and Rosses Point (County Sligo) being accessible from any of Knockranny House Hotel in Westport, the rural Mount Falcon Estate, or Glasshouse Hotel in downtown Sligo.
Further north is the wonderful links at Donegal, Rosapenna, and Ballyliffin which we consider being another cluster, and are accessible from the magnificent Lough Eske Castle, Station House Hotel in Letterkenny, or the Rosapenna Resort itself. In Ballyliffin, which sits on the northernmost point of Ireland, we suggest the Ballyliffin Lodge Hotel & Spa which is 1 mile from the golf club.
