Westport Golf Club
North West Ireland, Ireland
Westport Golf Club overview
Westport Golf Club is one of Ireland’s best inland/parkland courses, with the current layout being in existence since 1973 and designed by Fred Hawtree. A highly respected championship venue, the club is the three-time host of the Irish Amateur Close Championship, the Smurfit Irish PGA Championship, and the 2019 AIG Cups & Shields All-Ireland Finals.
Situated 5 minutes from the town of Westport, the course is set amongst 260-acres of undulating, scenic parkland on the edge of Clew Bay which offers wonderful views of Croagh Patrick.
Westport also boasts a floodlit driving range, a good short-game area and a 9-hole pitch and putt course. Visitors will also find an impressive clubhouse with a restaurant, bar and a well-stocked pro shop.
Westport Golf Course overview
Westport Golf Club is a long course, the par-73 stretching to just over 7000-yards from the back tees. This is a challenging parkland layout with five par-5s that will test even the longest hitters. The highlight of the course are the holes immediately next to the coastline beginning with the par-3 12th and concluding with the par-5 15th where golfers must carry a 150-yard inlet of the bay.
Golfers who visit Westport will also be treated to some great views, in particular of Clew Bay, due to the elevated position of the golf course.
