Castlerock Golf Club
at Castlerock Golf Club
Northern Ireland, Ireland
Overview
The classic links golf course at Castlerock was made into an 18 hole layout by the famous Scottish club maker Ben Sayers in 1908 before Harry Colt made alterations to the course in 1925. Castlerock is considered as one of the best links golf courses in the country and certainly won’t disappoint during a golf vacation to Northern Ireland.
The course itself features several trademarks of traditional links golf, including undulating fairways, punishing bunkers and is made a tougher challenge with the presence of a prevailing wind.
Signature Holes
The signature hole at Castlerock is the par-three 4th or ‘Leg O’Mutton’ which requires a perfect tee shot to a green guarded by bunkers – try not to focus on the out of bounds to the right and the water hazard running up the left. A visit to Castlerock will certainly enhance any golf vacation to Northern Ireland.
