Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club is rather secluded in Maricopa, AZ; approximately 45 minutes south of downtown Scottsdale, and is well worth the visit. Once you arrive it is simply you and the golf course, with 360-degree views of the surrounding Sonoran Desert.
Ak-Chin Southern Dunes is a Troon-managed facility, that offers top-notch customer service, fantastic course conditions, and the ultimate desert golf experience. The facility includes a modern clubhouse and patio area; large double-sided driving range with a chipping and putting green. The Arroyo Grill onsite is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and is a great place to relax before and after your round.

Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club was designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley (Schmidt-Curley Golf Design), with Fred Couples as lead consultant for the design team. Schmidt and Curley are both long time apprentices of Pete Dye and have previously been awarded “Architect of the Year” by Golf Magazine.
Ak-Chin Southern Dunes Golf Club has been ranked in the top 5 in Arizona by Golf Digest. Precision is required from the tee due to the desert-style layout, but the difficulty lies within the deep, strategically placed bunkering and the multi-tiered greens. The course has 129 bunkers and large waste areas, but it’s also very playable depending on tee-selection, with 6 sets of tee boxes ranging from 5100 to over 7500 yards. The course has hosted several PGA TOUR qualifying tournaments, U.S. Open qualifiers, two Arizona State Amateur Championships, and regional professional tours. The course was purchased by the Ak-Chin Indian Tribe in 2010 to assure that the golf course would stay free of residential developments and maintain the natural surroundings.
