Located 16 miles north of downtown Scottsdale, Arizona, Grayhawk Golf Club offers is home to two of the best public courses in the state – Talon and Raptor.
The rotunda-like clubhouse is a magnificent golf facility and contains three separate dining options to choose from and a Golf Shop & Trading Post for a true retail experience. One of the three restaurants is Phil’s Grill, offering a variety of dishes from fish to tacos to sandwiches and salads. This great dig is an ode to “Lefty” Phil Mickelson’s ambassadorship for the club and is packed with memorabilia from Mickelson’s career.
The practice facilities are also excellent and from the driving range to short-game area you will have all you need to get warmed up.
Grayhawk Golf Courses overview
Grayhawk’s two onsite courses, the Talon and the Raptor, encapsulate a true desert golf experience with generous fairways, sweeping undulations, and deep bunkers. A round of golf on either of the two courses will give golfers an enjoyable challenge in the desert with spectacular views of the McDowell Mountains throughout. Regarded as some of the best golf you can play in the area, Grayhawk is well worth a visit.

Raptor Course
The Tom Fazio-designed Raptor Course at Grayhawk is listed among the best public golf courses in Arizona by Golfweek and Golf Magazine and is one of only two Scottsdale courses to have hosted a PGA TOUR event. Fairways are relatively generous, and the greens are large, but misses will find deep greenside bunkers and collection areas that test the short game. Stretching across gentle hills and natural arroyos, the Raptor Course sits in a very picturesque part of the Sonoran Desert.
Talon Course
The Talon Course at Grayhawk Golf Club was designed by U.S. Open Champion David Graham and Gary Panks and is described as one of the ‘most exciting and dramatic’ desert layouts in the Southwest. Rated as one of the best you can play in the region it has hosted notable amateur and professional events. Stunning views of the McDowell Mountains and Scottsdale skyline can be witnessed throughout the round, as you play a course that has been beautifully crafted from the natural landscape.
