Roman Road Course
at Celtic Manor Resort
South Wales, Wales
Overview
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr. and opened in 1995, this golf course was named after the many Roman roads crossing through the course and was designed carefully so as not to disrupt any of the remains.
With stunning views across to Somerset and Devon and overlooking the Severn Estuary, this golf course hosted the Celtic Manor Wales Open from 2005 to 2007, as well as the star-studded All-Star Cup in 2005 and 2006. It has also been ranked ‘the top inland course in Wales’ by Golf Monthly Magazine.
The par 70 golf course varies from long open fairways and dramatic descents on the front nine to a back nine that twists and turns through trees and across lakes and streams. We recommend you hire a buggy as the undulating fairways can be a tough walk.
Signature Holes
There is a mix of long and short holes, the most memorable being the long par three 8th with plenty of trees to frame the hole, and the dog-leg par four 14th hole.
