World-class golf in a charming small-town
In Southern Pines, you’ll find a collection of picture-perfect tracks that more than hold their own against the big name of their neighbor.
Pine Needles has been likened to No.2 and has played host to three Women’s US Open Championships, whilst Mid Pines and Tobacco Road are both highly regarded as a top 10 courses in North Carolina. These are the three big names, but add in the New Course at Talamore and the Mid South Club, or perhaps even Longleaf and Foxfire, and you have a truly memorable collection of golf courses.
What makes golf in Southern Pines so special?
Located across the road from one another, Mid Pines and Pine Needles are two very impressive Donald Ross designs. Pine Needles is three-time home of the Women’s US Open Championship and is often likened to Pinehurst No.2 course, whilst Mid Pines is renowned as one of the best courses in the state.
Situated just north of the town is Tobacco Road. Often referred to a ‘Pine Valley on steriods’, this beautiful 18-hole course cuts through an old sand quarry which sets the scene for a roller coaster ride of a round. Add to this Talamore Golf Resort, with two incredible courses on site, Foxfire and Longleaf, and you can really see what makes this idyllic location such a special place to play golf.
