Dumbarnie Links Golf Club Overview
Dumbarnie Links is situated within the 5000-acre Balcarres Estate, owned by Lord Balniel, approximately 20 minutes south of St Andrews on the Fife peninsula. Laid out near Largo Bay on the Firth of Forth, this magnificent public course opened its doors for play in May 2020. Whilst there is no denying that every facet of the golf facility has been fashioned by man, it is nonetheless a testament to the exceptional work that Clive Clark and his team have done in creating this modern great that will be talked about for years to come.
The ethos of Dumbarnie Links was to create an accessible, world-class links course which they have done; making it a course that all future visitors to the St Andrews area should consider as part of their itinerary. Whilst Dumbarnie Links does not provide the history of the Old Course in St Andrews or Carnoustie Golf Links it more than makes up for that with the fun it offers to the visiting golfer.
Dumbarnie Links Golf Course Overview
Blessed with a fantastic piece of oceanfront property that stretches along the coastline in between Elie and Lundin, a modern, high-class Championship links course has been created by architect Clive Clark. Weaving through a mile and a half of genuine links land this course offers uninterrupted sea views across the Firth of Forth with no less than fourteen of the holes providing ocean views.
Built over 345-acres of the Balcarres Estate, the course features interesting elevation changes and has a number of tees and greens located in close proximity to the water. With an impressive 12 sets of tee boxes, Dumbarnie Links can be lengthened to 7600-yards for the pro’s however for the regular golfers, much enjoyment can be found from the shorter setups which provide three potential driveable par-4’s and a number of risk-reward opportunities.

Dumbarnie Links is home to many quality golf holes however the par-4 17th is arguably the standout candidate. A driveable par-4 that plays uphill to a heavily protected green with three levels to it, which sits behind a stone wall that is at least 300 years old.

Having built a fantastic reputation soon after opening, Dumbarnie Links was chosen to host the Women’s Scottish Open on the Ladies European Tour in 2021. Making it a Ladies European Tour venue less than 2 years after opening to the public.
