Golf Courses

Heritage Golf Club features two courses on-site La Chateau is a Peter Matkovich designed, par-72 championship golf course. It is set right in the heart of the resort, with amazing views of the nearby coastline and lagoon. The golf course itself is of outstanding quality, always in pristine condition, and enjoyable for all levels of golfers.

Guests also have access to La Reserve Golf Links, a private 18-hole championship golf course exclusive to Heritage Resorts guests opening in December 2023. Co-designed by Open champion Louis Oosthuizen, this par 72 course displays beautiful fairways and cleverly placed bunkers to challenge golfers of all abilities. It is also set to host the DP World Tour 2023 Mauritius Open, making it a must visit track.

La Reserve Golf Links will become the first contemporary links course in the Indian Ocean and has been designed to offer spectacular panoramic views from every hole, creating a picturesque backdrop of Mauritius' beautiful landscape and coastline.

Accommodation

Heritage Awali is set on the South coast of Mauritius, between crystalline lagoons and lush green hills. The hotel draws on the fascinating cultural rainbow of Mauritius, the memories of its sensual and bewitching African heritage. With an ethnic decor that is synonymous with elegance... what “Awali” means in Africa is a return to the sources, to the origins...

On arrival, you are welcomed by the sounds of djembes and are invited to immerse yourself in the warm and friendly world of the true Mauritius, where the magic of the place lies in the perfect balance of luxury, simplicity and friendliness. The Hotel has 160 rooms, most of which are deluxe rooms of 52 square metres, and all are equipped with the standard amenities required of a 5-star hotel.

Heritage Awali is ideal for families, couples or groups of friends, and stands out for its exceptional range of services tailored for the enjoyment of young and old. Rooms are spacious and perfectly fitted out, and aside from its fabulous golf course, an array of land and water-based sports are on offer. An exclusive kid’s club is also available for children aged 3 to 11 years, as well as the free 'BB' club for children up to 35 months old.

Restaurant & Bars

Heritage Awali also has a wonderful selection of restaurants. The main restaurant, Savana, serves mixed cuisine, buffet style. Infinity Blue offers international and seafood dishes. The very popular poolside bar, Amafrooty, serves snacks and salads and is open from 12 to 5pm only. At the Heritage Le Telfair next door, you can find Gin’ja, a Pan Asian restaurant on the beach.

Guests have access to 12 restaurants and 8 bars across the Heritage Domaine with the Dining Experience offering a food credit to various outlets of the Heritage Resorts that are not part of the All Inclusive Package.

The Kuzini Restaurant offers Indian cuisine, is open 6 days a week from 7pm-10pm, and provides the option for indoor or outdoor dining. The Infinity Blue Restaurant is a pool and beach restaurant serving International cuisine for lunch and dinner. Dine under the stars in the open-air Boma Restaurant and enjoy a delicious African-style BBQ buffet, open twice a week. Check out the Zafarani Restaurant for more Indian cuisine and a sophisticated adult only atmosphere.

Then, in the Domaine nearby, accessible by shuttle, you also have the Heritage Le Château de Bel Ombre, an enchanting 19th Century Manor house where you can escape for one magical night to experience a gastronomic dinner followed by an overnight stay and a sumptuous breakfast on the terrace the next morning – at a small supplement. Finally, the C Beach Club is the resort’s chill-out bar, restaurant and beach club, open all day until late.

Spa & Leisure

When it comes to well-being and relaxation, you can find the Seven Colours Spa, set within the décor of an African village, and spread out over 3,000 square metres. It has 20 treatment rooms, five garden kiosks, two beach kiosks, two steam rooms and one sauna, two hammams, two vichy showers, vitality and chilled pools, a hairdresser and we do offer tea and infusions after treatments.

One 45-minute back massage is offered per guest per stay (applicable for adults and teenagers from 12 years old) at Seven Colours Spa and is to be taken on the first 2 days after arrival, between 9 am and 3 pm. One 20-minute massage for children aged 3 to 11 years is offered at Seven Colours spa once per stay. To be taken on the first 2 days after arrival (between 9am to 3pm). Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Location

The resort is located in Domaine de Bel Ombre, on the South-West coastline of the island. It is a 60-minute transfer to Sir Ramgoolam International Airport. The flight time from London is 12 hours with direct flights from British Airways or Air Mauritius.

Nearby

Heritage Nature Reserve, 1,300 hectares of indigenous flora and fauna, with exceptional views, rivers and waterfalls. Quad in specific areas, 4x4, mountain biking and trekking. Day, night and sun downers excursions available as well as kids discovery tours.

Place du Moulin, a former sugar factory at the heart of the domain, fully restored in the Creole style of this site, offers visitors small local shops and also a centre for events and "incentive" meetings. You can also visit Trevessa, a stone memorial dedicated to the survivors of the Trevessa Shipwreck in 1923. Jacotet Bay is the historical naval site that saw the first English offensive to take Mauritius from the French.

The old mill is a relic of the past, the Frederica chimney appears majestically amongst the surrounding lush landscape reminding us of Domaine de Bel Ombre's rich history.

Preferred access to the unique World of Seashells Museum which hosts the largest collection of seashells on the African continent located on the Heritage Domain.
