The recent increase in golf traffic to the Canary Islands has understandably coincided with an increase in awareness of the fabulous courses on these islands. Whilst some of these are attached to wider golf resorts, others are standalone layouts that are well worth the visit!

Check out some of the best golf courses in the Canary Islands below, and be sure to speak to our Sales Experts about the best way of creating an itinerary that allows for visits to several of these excellent courses on your next trip.

Anfi Tauro

Nestled in the picturesque Tauro Valley of Gran Canaria, Anfi Tauro Golf Course is a golfer's paradise. This lush 18-hole championship course boasts stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean and the rugged Canarian mountains.

With its undulating fairways and challenging water hazards, Anfi Tauro provides an enjoyable yet demanding experience for all golfers. With the full layout only extended to 6,200 yards, it’s a course that places an emphasis on strategy over brute strength. Designed by Robert von Hagge, the routing ensures a harmonious blend of natural beauty and considered challenges, making it the ideal addition to any golf break to Gran Canaria.

Abama Golf

Abama Golf Course, located on the southwest coast of Tenerife, is a masterpiece by legendary golf architect Dave Thomas. Its 18 holes wind through lush gardens and offer breathtaking views of the Atlantic Ocean and La Gomera Island.

The course's meticulous design incorporates volcanic landscapes, water features, and varied terrain, providing golfers with a delightful mix of challenges. Abama's world-class facilities, attentive service, and a stunning clubhouse add to its allure, making it a top pick for those seeking a luxurious golf experience in Tenerife. Particularly with the excellent five-star Ritz-Carlton Abama hotel located on-site – one of the Spain’s top golf resorts!

Tecina Golf

Tecina Golf, perched atop a cliff overlooking the Atlantic on the island of La Gomera, is an exceptional golf course. Designed by Donald Steel, this 18-hole layout offers breathtaking ocean views and dramatic changes in elevation. With its challenging layout and year-round pleasant climate, Tecina Golf (and the island of La Gomera as a whole) is a hidden gem, perfect for golfers seeking a serene and scenic getaway.

Golf Costa Adeje

Another course on Tenerife that offers fabulous views of the Atlantic Ocean and La Gomera Island, Golf Costa Adeje is situated towards the south of the island, just 15 minutes from the Tenerife South airport.

There are 27 holes here to enjoy, making it the perfect spot from which you can base your golf trip, with the club also having a reputation for a warm welcome from the friendly local staff. There’s plenty of water coming into play throughout your round, so make sure you stock up on balls before leaving for your trip … just in case!

Real Club de Golf Las Palmas

Real Club de Golf Las Palmas, located in the heart of Gran Canaria's capital, is the oldest golf club in Spain. This historic course offers a unique golfing experience laid out in an extinct volcano. The route is surrounded by lush greenery and stunning views of both the city and the sea.

Designed by Mackenzie Ross, it provides a challenging yet enjoyable round with narrow fairways and small greens. Real Club Las Palmas' rich history, excellent dining options, and convenient city location make it a must-visit for golfers heading to the island, with an unparalleled blend of tradition and golfing excellence.

Melonares

Melonares Golf Course is laid out within the beautiful surroundings of Gran Canaria's Meloneras resort and offers a luxurious golfing experience – and one that is right on your doorstep when staying on-site!

Designed by Ron Kirby, like others on the island this 18-hole course features a combination of desert-like terrain, tropical vegetation, and stunning ocean vistas. The course is flanked by the Canary mountains on one side and the harbour of Pasito Blanco on the other, and as such, is one of the most scenic in the whole of the Canary Islands.

Salobre Old Course

Salobre Golf Resort's Old Course, set amidst the rugged landscape of Gran Canaria, is an excellent test of golf. This challenging course designed by Roland Favré is carved into the island's natural terrain, featuring deep ravines, indigenous flora, and some intimidating carries over water.

The course is overlooked by the stunning Salobre Hotel Resort & Serenity, (one of the best resorts in the Canaries) and with an additional 18 holes also on-site (The New Course), there’s a sensational five-star golf holiday awaiting all of our guests who visit the resort!

Buenavista

Buenavista Golf, located on the northwestern coast of Tenerife, is a hidden gem designed by the legendary Seve Ballesteros. Like the aforementioned Melonares Golf Course, the course here features sensational views of the water, as well as the mountains (this time, the Teno Mountains), creating a dramatic panorama throughout the round. The course is in a slightly quieter area of the island and makes up part of Meliã Hacienda del Conde, one of Tenerife's leading resorts. This makes it the ideal spot for a relaxed and tranquil golf trip, away from the hustle and bustle that can be found closer to Tenerife’s busier towns and resorts.

Las Americas

Situated in the heart of Tenerife's tourist hub, Golf Las Americas is a vibrant and much-loved course designed by John Jacobs. This championship offering boasts a fantastic golfing experience and is easy to navigate thanks to the lack of severe elevation within its terrain.

Don’t be fooled into thinking this place is a walkover though. One of the greener courses in the Canaries, there’s plenty of opportunity to get into trouble, as well as several lakes that come into play throughout! As such, it might not be a bad idea to take advantage of the excellent practice facilities that can be found on-site before you head to the first tee!

Maspalomas

Last but certainly not least is Maspalomas Golf Course. The layout can be found in the Gran Canarian resort of the same name and is close to Maspalomas beach for those looking for somewhere to relax after their round. The course is a par-73, meaning there’s plenty of scoring chances on its par-5’s, however, it’s tree-lined routing, and large bunkers offer plenty of protection from any shots that stray from the target!
